Veterans Day is observed on November 11 every year. November 11 is the anniversary of the end of World War I.

Many allied nations observe this holiday to memorize those lost during the war. The holiday is known as 'Armistice Day' in many nations around the world. In US, it is the day when people honor and pay tribute to the living veterans who have been serving the military during wars or in peacetime. Italy is the only exception which celebrates the holiday on 4th November for the Armistice of Villa Giusti. It came to be known as the 'Remembrance Day' in the British Commonwealth of Nations. Poland also altered the holiday to National Day and called the Polish Independence Day. The day is known as the 'Day of Peace' in Belgium.
